Everyone is welcome to learn about issues that affect people with low income and what we can do to have a voice on these issues.

AGENDA

Introductions: 10:00  Time to share a little bit about yourself, and what's going on in your life, your community, or with groups you may work with. Short announcements of events or actions are welcome!

Guest: 10:30  Nancy Fritz, Director of Homeless Initiatives for Maine Housing.  Nancy will join us to talk about the Maine Housing’s definition of affordable housing and homelessness; the effect of the stimulus package on ending homelessness, creating affordable housing, serving people who are homeless; and give an update on the Maine Homelessness Coalition’s current work.

Maine Equal Justice Partners (MEJP) Update: 11:00   Get information on the state budget proposals and other issues we will face as the Legislature continues its work.  We’ll be needing your help to protect important programs and services.  Bring your questions and be ready to help us make decisions.

Directions to MAIN meeting at MEJP -  From I - 95

Take Exit 109 Augusta. On the ramp there is a fork, bear right (Augusta) onto Western Avenue.

Take Western Avenue to the 3rd set of traffic lights (the Armory will be on your left and Fire Station on your right) and turn right onto Armory Street.

Armory Street will take you left around a big corner and turns into Capitol Street. Go down the hill to the traffic light at the intersection with Sewall Street. You will see the State House with the Dome. Go right on Sewell St. down to MEJP at 126 Sewall, right hand side, grey house.  (Look for MAIN sign on telephone pole.)  If the parking lot is full, park across the street in the state office parking lot.  Come early to get a parking space and get settled in for meeting that begins at 10:00 am.
