Maine Can Do Better *
Five Hundred people opposed to harmful cuts in the proposed state budget filled the Hall of Flags yesterday spilling out into other space. It was awesome! Over the past three days, people with low income and their allies have also testified against these cuts in health care, education and other critical services.
Thanks to everyone who attended, brought others and testified!
About two dozen people attended the Maine Heritage Policy Center "counter rally" during yesterday's Maine Can Do Better press event at the State House in an attempt to drown out our voices.
They also are circulating an online petition asking legislators to support the cuts. Right now they have nearly 400 signatures. We have an online petition too!

Let's show lawmakers that a greater number of Maine people feel that Maine must do better! STOP cuts that will make these tough times tougher for Maine communities, businesses and families.
Please sign the Maine Can Do Better petition. Help deliver the message that economic recovery and long-term prosperity depend on maintaining programs like the ones being cut in this budget proposal.
If we work together, we can have thousands of signatures!
